Senior Product Design Engineer: Enclosures & Plastics (m/f/d)

Senior Product Design Engineer (m/f/d) for enclosures and plastic parts in Stuttgart-Wangen. CAD design, injection molding and 3D printing, integrating electronics into mechanical assemblies for industrial prototypes.

What you'll be working on

  • Designing enclosures, housings and mechanical assemblies in CAD
  • Plastic part design for injection molding and 3D printing, from wall thickness and draft angles to snap-fits
  • Integrating PCBs and electronic components into mechanical assemblies
  • Creating technical drawings and preparing manufacturing data
  • Building and assembling prototypes hands-on in the workshop
  • Coordinating prototype, small-series and series manufacturing with suppliers
  • Researching and working out technical solutions independently

We build prototypes for large and small customers, quickly, pragmatically, and with as little overhead as possible. Our lab in Stuttgart-Wangen is where ideas become working hardware, and the mechanical side of that is enclosures, housings, and plastic parts that actually fit around real electronics.

We're looking for an experienced design engineer who owns product construction end to end, from the CAD model to a moldable, buildable part. To be clear about scope: this is product and enclosure design, not machine, plant, or structural engineering.

What to expect

  • Hands-on work on real industrial prototype projects
  • Ownership of your designs from concept to finished part
  • Fast decisions and no corporate overhead
  • Young team with a lot of ownership
  • Room for your own ideas and projects

The role is full-time (35h) at our office and workshop in Stuttgart-Wangen, with hybrid remote possible.

Core competencies (must-have)

  • Good to confident command of CAD systems for part and assembly modelling
  • Experience in plastics design for injection molding and 3D printing: wall thicknesses, draft angles, ribs, snap-fits, tolerances and fits
  • Experience designing enclosures around electronics: mounting bosses, cable routing, connector cutouts, sealing

Working style and mindset

  • Independent way of working and initiative
  • Quality awareness with a pragmatic approach to solutions
  • Critical thinking and open communication
  • Independent research and development of technical solutions
  • An "I'll take care of it" mentality
  • Hands-on attitude, design and practice belong together
  • Taking responsibility and solving problems independently

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Fusion 360
  • Experience with prototype, small-series and series manufacturing, including DFM discussions with mold makers and suppliers
  • Experience with simulation and analysis
  • Willingness to produce CAD parts yourself and critically review CAD models
  • Manual skills in assembling prototypes with plastics and electronics
