Senior Embedded Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Senior embedded software engineer (m/f/d) for embedded Linux, firmware and driver development on production hardware. Remote-friendly, with a lab and office in Stuttgart.

What you'll be working on

  • Working with embedded Linux systems (e.g. Yocto) and RTOS (e.g. Zephyr)
  • Embedded software development in C
  • Driver development and hardware bring-up alongside the electronics team
  • Setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for embedded projects
  • Deployment strategies for production hardware
  • Debugging with JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Close collaboration with clients and the internal team

We build prototypes for large industrial companies, quickly, pragmatically, and with as little overhead as possible. We're looking for a senior embedded software engineer who can take firmware from architecture and driver development through to deployment on production hardware.

This role is remote-friendly. Most of our developers work remotely, and we also have a lab and office in Stuttgart, so being able to work on site is a plus.

What to expect

  • Hands-on work on real industrial prototype projects
  • Ownership of firmware from architecture through bring-up to deployment
  • Close collaboration with our electronics and mechanical engineers, since hardware and software are developed together here
  • A small, cross-functional team with fast decisions and no corporate overhead
  • Room to bring your own ideas and tooling choices

Must-have

  • 5+ years of professional, production experience in embedded software development
  • Strong C skills
  • Experience with driver development and hardware bring-up
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems (e.g. Yocto)
  • Solid software engineering practices (clean git workflow, code review, CI/CD)
  • Experience with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB
  • Comfortable working close to the hardware (debugging with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD)
  • Professional level English
  • Strong communication skills

Strong nice-to-have

  • Rust experience
  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS
  • Experience deploying and maintaining software on production hardware (provisioning, fleet management)
  • Embedded security experience (secure boot, TLS/crypto on constrained devices)
  • Based in or near Stuttgart

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with certification-relevant or safety-critical software development (e.g. CRA, IEC 61508, ISO 26262)
  • German proficiency
